Village self-isolation support group.

WhatsApp

A WhatsApp group has been created to support villagers who find themselves in need of help during the coronavirus self-isolation period. Any requests of support for Newgate Street village residents and offers of help can come through this group.

To join please contact Simon Smith on 07977 407388.

Guidelines

  1. Keep requests simple and factual and respect people’s privacy if you are requesting help on behalf of someone else (I.e. not giving unnecessary or confidential information, such as medical conditions, name, address).

  2. If you can, ‘swipe right’ on message you are replying to so that it’s clear which post you are replying to. This is especially useful if you are not replying to the latest message in the group.

  3. If you need to sort arrangements with someone (e.g. dropping off), consider either calling them or messaging privately. That is possible in the group. Press and hold the message to get a menu, choose more and you can do from there. It’s not easy, so if you do need to sort arrangements in the group, please do, but do your best to avoid lengthy 1-1 conversations as this can distract from other requests for help.

  4. Follow government advice in terms is social distancing when delivering. See here for more.

  5. Don’t start or deviate into debates or conversations on government policy or other wider issues to do with coronavirus. Do share any experiences, lessons learned or ideas on how to help & support our neighbours.
